We are living in a post human world and do not touch skin to skin. Now we see skin in reflection mirrored back to us through a film. We cannot reach out to touch.
The world has been transformed to a virtual reality in which I can see my grandchild. My arms reach out to hold him but he is no longer tangible. I can laugh with him, but cannot pick him up when he cries.
Will our skin lose its sensitivity to touch for lack of being touched?
Not to feel the warmth of a hand in yours.
What will happen to love? Surely all kinds of love rely on touch? Is it possible to express love at a distance just through the inflection of the voice? Of course, but it lacks completeness.
In our new computer-generated world, there is an absence of any physical presence. The house echoes with the faded shadows of the people that used to inhabit it.
No longer does the room echo with the laughter of assembled people as the candle flickers. Now, the room is cool without the warmth of company.
I float in a vacuum, will I become ethereal? I touch my skin and find it is still warm.

you are amazing.so true. I am lucky I can hug my 3 as they are in my bubble. Take care Love as always. My dear friend of over 70 yearsxx

Congratulations dear Trisha. You have a very rare gift of being able to put down on paper something that is very much in all our thoughts but most of us don’t know how to express those strange and foreign feelings. I look forward to giving you a big hug soon xx

Thank you Trish.
This disconnected world also holds so much wisdom… and love…
Your honest and searching words are a real balm and I know the day will come again soon for much holding of hands.
And thank you aga in.
Steph (no hug, let’s wait till we can be real).
